The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic might be considered the Dodge brand’s best-kept secret. While the 2019 Ram 1500 is fully redesigned and kicks off the acclaimed truck’s fifth generation, the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic is a streamlined continuation of the fourth generation. Ram liked that past generation so much (and so did we) that they decided to give it one more run before retirement.
With a starting MSRP of $27,395, the 2019 1500 Classic saves you a significant chunk of change compared to the redesigned model. It comes in regular, Quad, and crew cab styles and boasts five different trim levels. The towing capacities, frame strength, and interior quality have all been improved for the 2019 model year.
The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic brings a straightforward, no frills attitude to the stable of a truck class that some believe has become oversaturated with unnecessary luxury and superfluous technology. It does what it needs to do and more, and still competes despite its excellent price.
The thickly-muscled 2019 Ram 1500 Classic comes outfitted with a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine. For those who want to get really ripped, there’s an available 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 engine with a TorqueElite® eight-speed automatic transmission. With the gas engine, the maximum payload comes out to a full 1,920 pounds, with a maximum gas horsepower of 395.
Everyone will be happy to spend time in the roomy, comfortable interior of the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. Excellent steering and handling augment a smooth ride quality. This is a space that simply looks good, feels good, and sounds good. It probably even tastes good, though we haven’t tried.
It’s hard to find a better value among modern pick-ups than the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. With a starting MSRP of $27,395, this truck starts nearly $6,000 cheaper than the fifth generation 2019 Ram 1500. Despite this, it still competes in its segment with strong towing and hauling capacities and plenty of power under the hood, along with quality comfort, safety, and design.
