The classic, hard-working full-sized trucks from Ram and Chevrolet are both getting an upgrade for the 2019 model year that promises to deliver even more advantages for truck shoppers. In this 2018 Ram 1500 vs 2019 Chevy Silverado comparison we are going to look at some of the upgrades and advantages of these models to see which ones may appeal most to truck shoppers.
Both vehicles are offering more capability for the new model year. The 2018 Chevy Silverado will be available with several different engine options, but we already know that the 2019 Ram 1500 will offer up to 12,750 pounds of towing in the Tradesman trim, and up to 2,300 pounds of payload. The 2018 edition of the Silverado 1500 could haul up to 12,500 pounds, so we will see if its engine enhancements (including cylinder deactivation and more powertrain options) allow it to catch up with the 2019 Ram 1500.

While pricing is not yet available for the 2019 Chevy Silverado at time of writing, we already know that a base 2019 Ram 1500 Trademan in the standard Quad Cab body style will have a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of just $31,695 (with a destination charge of $1,645). This is comparable to pricing for the previous generation of Silverado in the double cab body style. Drivers with unique work site needs will be able to add plenty of custom features even to this base trim including rear axle options, an off-road package with a suspension lift, an electric-locking rear differential, folding trailer-tow mirrors, and more.
On the elite end of the spectrum, the Ram also offers several attractive features in this 2019 Ram 1500 vs 2019 Chevy Silverado comparison. While the top, luxury-oriented High Country trim on the 2019 Silverado 1500 will likely still come with last-years 8-inch Chevy MyLink touchscreen display, the new 2019 Ram 1500 laramie trim and above will offer an all-new 12-inch touchscreen option for the Uconnect infotainment system. We are already excited about the capabilities that should be available with the new system, as well as other elite features available on top-of-the-line Ram models.
