2019 Ram 1500 Engine Options

The Ram 1500 has always delivered confident engine options and the new model for 2019 is no exception. Both gasoline-powered 2019 Ram 1500 engine options will come standard with the eTorque mild hybridization system. The new eTorque technology will take the place of the traditional alternator on each engine, and offer seamless stop/start functions, brief torque bursts, and brake energy regeneration. This technology and its lithium-ion battery will be standard whether drivers opt for the 3.6-liter V-6 or the HEMI 5.7-liter V-8 and offer even better fuel efficiency and performance on either option.

All models of the 2019 Ram 1500 will also come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission that will offer responsive shifting with up to 40 individual shift-map options. Other performance-enhancing powertrain features that are new to this refined and responsive truck include a new thermal management system designed to help engine fluids get up to optimal temperatures more quickly, an upgraded transfer case on four-wheel drive models, an available electronic locking differential, and other technology. This truck will offer up to 12,750 pounds of towing and 2,300 pounds of payload when properly equipped.

3.6-liter V-6

The 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 will return on the 2019 Ram 1500 with enhanced fuel efficiency and performance as the base engine for most models. While this engine will continue offering 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque in its standard incarnation, it will also be able to benefit from an additional 90 pound-feet of torque in short bursts thank to eTorque technology.

HEMI 5.7-liter V-8

The advanced gas engine option on the 2019 Ram 1500 will continue being the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 rated for a breathless 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. In addition to this premium standard torque output, this V-8 will be able to get an additional boost of 130 pound-feet from the eTorque system, which will make this engine even more responsive to towing and acceleration needs.

Diesel Engine

For drivers who want more efficiency, past models of the Ram 1500 have come with a 3.0-liter V-6 EcoDiesel rated for 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. At this time, we don’t know for sure if this diesel engine option will return as one of the 2019 Ram 1500 engine options, but we would expect it to be an option with late availability when this new truck starts arriving later this year.
